Emma Thompson

Emma who is 41, started her working life in the financial services industry before returning to University to study for a degree in Archaeology and Medieval History.

On returning to corporate life, she joined KPMG where she worked in marketing before being headhunted by the Royal College of Surgeons. Here she was responsible for harmonising the College’s postgraduate examination in line with Europe and this provided her with a taste for project management.

Emma then moved on to The Royal College of Nursing where she researched the feasibility, scoped out the business plan and secured funding for the establishment of an Accident and Emergency faculty, which was then followed by a role at the Environment Agency, where she supported the board in their strategic decision-making, marketing and business planning.

As part of an efficiency drive, Emma also implemented a flexible working pilot. The programme was an overwhelming success, demonstrating improvements in morale, output and communication levels. It was subsequently rolled-out across the organisation.

Now based in Oxford, Emma combines a role for the elite Sunday Times FastTrack league table programme with an advisory capacity for entrepreneurs, working with them on key issues impacting their business and helping them to develop the right strategy to move their businesses to the next level.

Recent projects have included working with an internet company to define its marketing strategy, and a warehouse management system provider create its promotional messages.
