Getting the best
from your Business Advice
- Make sure the Business Adviser you choose to work with has the relevant experience and knowledge to help you. Use the National Register of Business Support Professionals as your guide. www.ibconsulting.org.uk/register
- Be prepared to meet more than one to find the adviser who can do what you need
- Find someone who understands your business through having worked in your sector
- Check that your adviser has the skills you need and that these are up to date
- Ensure that your adviser can provide advice and not just information which can be obtained elsewhere
- Check that your adviser understands the time and resource issues you face in running your business so that you are offered solutions that are relevant
- Be sure that your adviser is a skilled analyst and can communicate well in a language you understand
- Prepare your objectives before contacting your adviser so that you clearly understand why you need an adviser
- Be prepared to be told what needs attention in your business
- and finally if you are not getting the service you need you should be prepared to change your adviser
